I found my gr-gr-gr-grandfather Lewis FW Andrews with his children and 2
grandsons (Lewis and harry Griswold) living in Macon in 1860, two doors up
from Floyd House Hotel.
A Google search yielded little about "Floyd House" as a hotel but turned up
numerous references to the Civil War hospital
"Floyd House and Ocumulgee Hospitals".
I know my church here was a hospital during the civil war years in Harpers
Ferry. Does anyone know more about Macon's "Floyd House" and if the hotel
and hospital are one and the same?
I'm especially curious because his grandson Harry Griswold (nephew of my
gr-gr-grandmother, not a direct line for me) is living in a "hotel" in
Macon in 1880 and among other residents of the 1880 hotel are the Mayor
(Huff) and his family. I don't know whether it's one and the same hotel as
the one he lived near in 1860 when he lived with his grandfather, but
interested all the same.
Thanks!
