EUGENE SMITH DEAD
Editor Walton Tribune and Brother of Mayor Bridges Smith
Eugene H. Smith, editor of the Walton Tribune, Monroe, Ga., died last Sunday
afternoon after an illness of nearly twelve months, of consumption. Editor
Smith went to Monroe from Lawrenceville where he had for years ably edited
the Gwinnett Journal. Strange to say just twelve months to the day and the
day on which his lease expired, he passed over the river to the great beyond.
He was a brother of Mayor Bridges Smith, of Macon. He is survived by a wife.
The newspaper fraternity extends sympathy to the bereaved widow.
