FORMER COVINGTON CITIZEN IS DEAD
MR. JOHN KINNEY, FORMERLY NEWSPAPER MAN OF THIS CITY DIED IN MACON LAST FRIDAY.
Mr. John Kinney, aged fifty seven years, died at the Masonic Home in Macon
last Friday after an illness of two years with a complication of diseases. His
body was brought to this city Saturday and interred in the city cemetery.
Mr. Kinney was well known to many of the citizens of the city and county,
he having lived here for a number of years. At one time he was connected with
the Enterprise and also with the Covington Star, and was considered as one of
the best newspaper men in the county at that time. Several years ago he moved
with his mother to Macon where she died three years ago. His health began to
fail at that time and he was taken in charge by the Masons of Macon, he being a
prominent member. They cared for him until his death Friday.
The remains were accompanied to this city by Dr. J. W. Roberts, Superintendent
of the Home and Mr. C. E. Brunner, senior warden of the lodge to which Mr.
Kinney belonged. The burial took place immediately after the arrival of the
Central train from Macon.
