I am researching the Charles Oats family that moved to Burke Co from
the Marion Dist, SC around 1800. Charles later moved to Jefferson Co
prior to 1840 and then back to Burke around 1860. I believe Charles is
my ggggrandf. My gggrandf was James Oats, possibly William James Oats,
born 10/10/1805. m. to Nancy Little on 11/15/1832 (daught of Wm Little
and Nancy Patterson of Jeff. Co) He later moved to Early Co, GA,
possibly with the Littles and Pattersons prior to 1840. I think
Charles' children were: Samuel S., William James (my gggrandf), John,
Elijah, Andrew B., Robert P., Hugh L., Mary Frances, Elizabeth,
Harriett, MaryAnn, and possibly two more girls I can't identify. If
anyone can connect with this line, please let me know. Wanda Oates
