Maury,
Savannah MORNING NEWS has a website, but material is recent.
I have several sources for the records I collect. The University of
Florida has a large collection of old newspapers on microfilm, and their
Georgia papers include Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, Columbus, and Athens.
The University of Georgia has a large collection that includes all the
large and most of the smaller Georgia papers. The Florida State Library
at Tallahassee has a large collection of old Florida and Georgia papers.
I also go to the Jacksonville Public Library, the Orlando Public
Library, the Tampa Public Library, and the Polk County (Florida)
Genealogical Library. And occasionally I make a raid across the border
to Thomasville, Quitman, Valdosta, and Brunswick.
I get to Savannah about 3 times each year...usually to locate and
photograph old homes associated with my lines....or to wander around in
adjoinng counties looking for the old plantations. Jim J.
