I, too, have subscriptions to ancestry.com and genealogy.com because (clever devils) between them they offer an almost complete set of the reference materials I want. When I signed up on line I noticed that all of the "boxes" were checked by default (authorizing them to share my name and address with other companies, call and e-mail me with offers, and automatically renew my subscription). It was up to me to "uncheck" them. I can't blame them - it's a good marketing technique used by most on-line businesses.
Even if you overlooked this when you signed up, you should expect the companies to honor the fact that you changed your mind. First, go to each web site and carefully review the entries you have made in the My Account section of ancestry (upper right corner of the screen) and the My Profile section at genealogy (mygenealogy.com pull down menu; last item). Change them to what you want the companies to do. Then call them and let them know that your preferences have changed.
I've had a good response calling these companies to sort out issues like renewal and coordinating the expiration dates of the various premium services I pay for.
Good luck.
