Elizabeth was one of four daughters born to William and Jeru Willoughby.
She was born ca. 1806 in Green County, Ga. Her father, Willoughby born
1759, a REV Soldier, owned land in Green, Clark, Wilkinson and other counties
in Georgia.
First Generation
1. Joseph (Josiah) PYRON. Josiah was born 18 Dec 1806 in Green County,
Georgia. He married Elizabeth WILLOUGHBY, daughter of William WILLOUGHBY
& Jerusha JONES, 12 Dec 1833 in Green Co. GA. Elizabeth was born 18 Dec
1808 in Green Co. GA. Josiah Pyron and Elizabeth Willoughby lived and raised
their children in Pike County, Georgia. After the Civil War, he sold his
lands in Pike and moved to Taylor County. The land he had in Pike County
was rich land, good for farming. The Taylor county lands were poor, so
timber was used as an investment. In the years that followed, he reportedly
regretted selling the land and the move to Taylor County. He often expressed
this displeasure to family members. He later became a merchant.
Upon the death of her brother Robert Willoughby in Clark County in 1834,
Elizabeth and Josiah assumed guardianship of Mary and Nancy and they moved
to Pike County to live with the Pyrons.
Josiah and Elizabeth had the following children:
i. William Lafayette PYRON CSA
ii. Aria PYRON
iii Martha Susan "Mattie" PYRON
iv. Emma Elizabeth PYRON
Second Generation
2. William LaFAYETTE CSA PYRON was Born 29 Sep 1834 in Skull Shoals, Greene
County, Georgia. He died in battle 31 Mar 1863 in Chattanooga, TN. He received
his education at Bethany College, Virginia. He was a minister
