Jimmy,
Thanks for taking on such a big job. I have not been terribly active in
researching my Jackson/Clarke County ancestors because (a) I have little to
go on and (2) the demands of my job. I hope to solve both problems next
year with my retirement!

I am not 100% sure that I am connected to Clarke County, but the
circumstantial evidence that I have to date is fairly convincing. My
ggranduncle, James B. Jackson was born in Clarke County around 1815
according to Methodist Church records. His father was John B. Jackson (b.
1767 in Georgia) and his brother (my ggrandfather) was William P. Jackson.
James was a Methodist elder and educator who was stationed at various posts
in Georgia and Florida and died in a train accident outside of Jacksonville.
Other than that, I have no information on their time in Clarke County. I
found that John and William were living in the same household in Coweta
County in the 1850 census, but nothing earlier.

Other family names are Walthall, Threadwell, Morgan, Turman, Clifton, and
Birchfield. Many families migrated together in those days and I suspect
that might have been the case in the western migration from Clarke to Coweta
County. For example, my great aunt, Susan Jackson, married a Treadwell
after both families migrated from Coweta County to Randolph County, AL in
1870.

I hope this information assists you in compiling your list. Because of your
obvious time commitments, I do not expect a reply to this message, but if
you happen to come across any information that might be useful to my search,
I would appreciate the information.

Again, thanks for taking on this responsibility.

Durward P. Jackson
