Hi folks
Well most of the feedback I received was for transcribing census
records.
Currently on the archives we have the 1820 Census, 1850 Census and the
1880 Mortality Schedule.
Other suggestions include Marriage and Divorce Books. We have quite a
bit of the marriages on the Clarke Co site, but I need to update the
references for them. I'll get those done this week, let you know and
then we need to see if there are other books we may can transcribe. I
don't know anything about divorce books, so if anyone has information on
that let me know. I would be very hesitant to publish fairly recent
divorce information tho!
There are also a few death records on the pages. Does any one know if
there is a "Death Book"?
The other request was for the cemetery books published by the AHS. The
AHS had voted not to publish this information on the internet until all
copies of the book were sold, which I totally understand. Once all
copies are sold then they will publish it on the internet for all.
OK.....
I will coordinate transcriptions of census records if those of you that
have some time will volunteer to transcribe the records. I see 2 ways of
doing it. If anyone wants to tackle a whole census let me know. Or we
can take one census and section it out to multiple volunteers. I'll
check into which census records are available on cd and we can go from
there. If you would like to volunteer to transcribe, let me know, and
also if you want to do a section or a whole census.
Also if you have family wills, biographies, legends, or anything else
send it our way!
Those of you that go to the library or other places and do research for
the group, if you would like for me to add what you find to pages let me
know. I don't think it matters if you only glean information for
specific requests. The way I see it is the more we have the merrier!!!
Ya'll have a great day!
Jimmy
