Found the following two camps for Clarke County, GA in an excellent 1995 book: Camp Fires of Georgia's Troops, 1861-1865 by William S. Smedlund:

p. 121 Camp Fairground, "located on the north side of the ridge of the fairgrounds near Athens. Georgia Troops: 30th Battalion Georgia Cavalry, Co. A, 8/7/1864-9/15/1864 (The company returned to this camp for a few days about October 26, 1864. Sources: ASB, 8/17/1864 & 10/26/1864."
ASB is Athens Southern Banner newspaper, Athens, GA

p. 266 Camp Taylor, "located near Thibodaux. Georgia Troops: Athens Reserve Corps, Georgia Infantry (Light Duty), 9/30/1862. Source: GDAH, CSR, 258/52"

The book offers three separate indexes allowing you to look up individual proper names, by unit in chronological order, and by State and county.

If this is true I would be very interested in any information about them. Are there historical markers to be found today at the location with information about the camps?
