Becky,
I got your posting below on the Oconee Co., Ga. e-mail list; it was not
gatewayed from the Oconee County, Georgia, message board at rootsweb.com.
Since Oconee County, Georgia, was not formed from Clarke until c. 1876 you
may have the wrong place. There is an Oconee County, South Carolina, as
well!
However, do you suppose that there might have been some connection between
the Alexander Woodson you are seeking and a Woodson Allen on the 1820 census
of Clarke County, Georgia? Woodson is a not so common first name.
Now that I know more about my Philip Allen Rev. Sol. who died in Clarke
County, Georgia, between c. 1834-1840, I am wondering if perhaps Woodson
Allen might have been a son (brother or other relative) of my Philip Allen
by an earlier marriage. I think my line comes from Philip Allen who married
Sarah Robinson b. c. 1790 in Clarke County, Georgia, 1819. Philip Allen
(Allin-Va.) drew a pension under the Act of 1832 for Rev. Service in
Virginia, but his application also claims service in North Carolina as well.
He claims to have enlisted c. 1776 was originally from King and Queen
County, Va., but enlisted in Mecklenburg Co, Va. So for militia service he
would have had to be 16 or so at the time making his birth not later than c.
1760. Plenty of time to be connected with some Woodsons in North
Carolina???
Living within a few pages of Phillip Allen in 1820 were:
George W. Allen maybe age 26-45 (born c. 1775-1794)
Thomas Allen maybe age 26-45 (born c. 1775-1794)
Woodson Allen maybe over 45 (born before 1775)
(unusual household 1 in agriculture, 1 in commerce, 2 slaves, and 5 free
black females)
Anyone researching these Allen/Allin men and their famiies? It has been
sometime since I worked on this line!

Hello,
I'm wondering, if anyone has any information on an Alexander Woodson?
He could have been born in the late 1700's up to 1813.
His father's name was Benjamin.
He was in Rockingham Co. N.C. in the 1850 census.
I saw other info, that stated he died in Oconee Co. Ga. in the middle
1850's, I believe.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Becky Carden
