If you received this twice, please excuse one post. I have 2 different email addresses - one specifically for genealogy - Rootsweb.com only recognizes on address so the other one gets bounced. I'm not sure which list received the post.

Hello,

April 24th 2005 - Pine Mountain (Harris County) GA - Roosevelt State Park at the Pavilion by Liberty Pool.

This was started the year after my grandmothers death, so the family wouldn't grow apart. It was attended by the 11 living children. Last year 3 of the remaining sisters attended, the remaining siblings - a brother was too sick to attend, he past 3 months later. My generation is taking over making the plans as the sisters have health issues.

My grandfather was James Jefferson EVANS (b in Poughkeepsie, NY on Feb 15, 873; d 1943 Hamilton, GA)

m. Lilylee "Dora" ROSAMOND (b.11 Feb 1891-Hamilton,GA d.30 Apr 1969-Columbus,GA)

Paternal G grandfather - William EVANS b. ??, GA buried in AL (one of my Uncles seems to remember that) before 1941

G grandmother 1st wife Sadie Ivy (?) EVANS: died after 1873 (?)
2 children grandfather and daughter Lula - married an attorney named JONES and lived in Newnan, GA during WWI

2nd wife Anna CASH from Harris County, GA d before June 1880
1 child Jimmie

Maternal G grandfather Benjamin Augustus "Gus" ROSAMOND (b.28 Nov 1864-Terrell County, GA d.17 Nov 1935)

sp: Emma Frances Arilla Annette DUKE (m.29 Dec 1885)

I've showed you my EVANS, DUKE, and ROSAMOND. The reason I included OLIVER is my grandparents had 13 children. 2 of the girls married OLIVER brothers and a 3rd daughter married an OLIVER cousin. Out of the 35 grandchildren, 17 are descendants of OLIVER. 16 are double first cousins.

My ancestors lived on what is know as today as Duke Road and Barnes Mill Road - part of the 1837 land lottery to my gggrandfather Welcome Parks DUKE. The property still belongs to family members.

BTW, in recent years, we've had friends of the families join us. It was really wonderful to see 2 78 / 79 year old men jump up and down holding on to each other - childhood friends who hadn't seen each other in 40 years. Let me know if you are interested.

Happy Family Hunting,
kemis massey
