Virginia,
I'm not aware of any connection, but have wondered if my LAMBs used to be
McLAMB before coming to America...

My LAMBs were from New Hanover Co, NC - WILLIAM LAMB b 1783, d 1862 Milltown,
Berrien Co, GA mar MARGARET (CARROLL) b ca 1799 Duplin Co, NC, d ca 1860
Milltown, Berrien Co, GA -> their son, JOHN CARROLL LAMB b 1832 New Hanover
Co, NC, d 1863 near Jackson, MS -killed by cannon - was Major, CSA mar
STATIRA ANN LOVEJOY b 1839 Henry Co, GA, d 1918 Milltown, Berrien Co, GA.
STATIRA ("TYE") ANN LOVEJOY was dau of JAMES L. LOVEJOY, b 1809 Henry Co, GA,
d June 1877 Stockton, Clinch Co, GA.

Also, according to Huxford, "Pioneers of Wiregrass GA, Vol I" pg 172:
"In 1858, JAMES L. LOVEJOY & his bro, DAVID M. [ LOVEJOY] moved from near
McDonough, GA [shs, my note - LOVEJOY Station, GA now named LOVEJOY, GA] to
the Stockton District of Clinch Co. (territory since 1920 in Lanier Co.)
Here, JAMES L. LOVEJOY bought out the old BARZILLA STATEN property four miles
north of Stockton. The Dr. RICE home was an elegant two-story ante-bellum
home of the plantation type, & there was a large plantation farmed w/slave
labor. JAMES L. LOVEJOY lived there until his death, in 1876 [shs, my note -
I have 1877]. His wife died about 1889 [ April 1889, Stockton, Clinch Co,
GA]. Both were buried in the nearby LOVEJOY Cemetery. JAMES L. LOVEJOY's wife
was EUGENIA ANN IRWIN (TALLEY) b 1824 pro-bably Greene Co, GA - they were
married in Henry Co, GA Jan, 1839.
This couple above were my gg-grandparents on my paternal side.

In my TALLEY lines, I have NATHAN TALLEY - info in Huxford's "Pio-neers..."
is incorrect on NATHAN TALLEY & his 1st & 2nd wives. NATHAN TALLEY was b ca
1798 Greene Co, GA, son of CALEB TALLEY & wife, ELIZABETH (STUART) TALLEY,
natives of Hanover Co, VA.
NATHAN TALLEY mar (1) CATHERINE SAGAR, (2) Martha Travis, (3) Mrs. Van
Geisen, widow of Cornelius Van Geisen. [shs, my note - my line is from NATHAN
& CATHERINE (SAGAR) TALLEY.
NATHAN TALLEY was also a minister but according to Huxford was never licensed
to preach until 1866, tho he had been doing a great deal of church work for
many years. He served as pastor fo the Nashville cir-cuit in 1867- 1869 & of
the Stockton church for several years. On account of his age, according to
Huxford's info, "he did not seek admis-sion into the "full Conference
connection" which would have necessi-tated being assigned to churches over
South GA from year to year."

"About 1867, Rev. TALLEY & wife discontinued housekeeping & made their home
w/their dau, Mrs. LOVEJOY [shs, my note - this is EUGENIA ANN IRWIN (TALLEY)
LOVEJOY, wife of JAMES L. LOVEJOY], in what was then Clinch Co (now
Lanier)...."
NATHAN & CATHERINE (SAGAR) TALLEY were my ggg-grand-parents in my paternal
line.

Rev. TALLEY's 3rd wife was Mrs RACHEL VAN GEISEN, b 1813 New Jersey [shs, my
note again, according to Huxford's info, incorrectly shown as 2nd wife]. She
was widow of CORNELIUS VAN GIESEN...she & her 1st husb had moved to Stockton
about 1866 & made their home w/their son, Dr. URIAH VAN GEISEN, a dentist.
There were no ch by either his 2nd or 3rd marriages...

On the SIRMANS line:
My paternal grandfather, HAMPTON ANDERSON HOWELL mar 1st DOROTHY ANN (TALLEY)
[shs, my note dau of Dr. JAMES W. TALLEY mar 1st MARY J. LITTLE; 2nd
MISSISSIPPI HOLZENDORF, dau of ALEX. [according to Huxford]. Dr. JAMES W.
TALLEY was the son of my NATHAN & CATHERINE (SAGAR) TALLEY.
HAMPTON ANDERSON HOWELL & DOROTHY (TALLEY) HOWELL had 1 dau, ANNIE HOWELL,
who [according to my aunt, Mrs Elizabeth "Beth" (HOWELL) JONES] married JOHN
SIRMANs, their ch were GORDON & JEAN SIRMANS. ANNIE (HOWELL) SIRMANS was the
half sister of my Dad, HARRY LEE HOWELL - as HAMPTON ANDER-SON HOWELL mar
LILLAN EUGENIA (LAMB) after Dorothy Ann (Talley) died.

Also, according to info from this same aunt - after death of her 1st husb,
JOHN CARROLL LAMB in the Civil War, STATIRA ANN (LOVEJOY) LAMB mar (2) R. S.
HOLZENDORF... His name was ROBERT - there were no ch by this marriage.

This is a lot of info sorta crowded all together - sorry for that, but wanted
to post before I forgot!
If it's confusing, just think how confused it has me! <g>
Again, how much I'm enjoying these notes on the area.....thanks to all for
posting!
