Can you tell me where you find Andy Harvell in the 1880 census in Georgia?
I searched, but didn't find him indexed anywhere in the state. I did find
an Andrew J. HARRELL indexed in Decatur County who was born in 1858 in
Georgia. If he is the same as your Andy Harvell who went to Texas in 1881,
let me know and I will see what I can find on him.
There was only one Harvell family in early Cobb County who may have been
yours. In 1840 Cobb, District 895, is an enumeration for a Riley Harvell,
aged 40-50, with 4 sons, an apparent wife aged 30-40, and 5 daughters. By
the 1850 census, Harvells in Cobb County consist of Riley's apparent widow,
Vina Harvell, age 42, born in NC, with her family, and next-door, a probable
son named Andrew J. Harvell - enumerated as age 21, with apparent wife named
Nancy.
If we may assume that this Andrew J. Harvell and Nancy were newly-married in
the 1850 census, they would, indeed, have likely produced several children
before their deaths in 1858-59. In 1860, the only Harvell indexed in Cobb
County was a young Thomas Harvel, age 7, living with Jasper Smith (age 52,
born in VA) and his apparent wife, C.A., age 50, born GA.
Do you think this Thomas Harvel is a brother to your Andy? Would love to
help if I can.

> My great grand father is Andrew Jackson Harvell. He was born in Georgia
possibly Cobb County. His father died before he was born and his mother died
before he was one. They both died either around 1858-1859. I was told he was
born in 1859 but have found information that indicated his birth being
around 1858. i know he had a brother that went to live with another family
after the death of their parents. I was told there were several other
siblings but have no clue about any of them. Andrew Jackson Harvell lived
with his Aunt and her children for a time until her death. I don't have any
information on the aunt.I was told that his parents name might be Mace
Harvell And Sally Bolt but am not sure of that. I am beginning to think this
is not his parents name. In 1881 he and his wife Mary Caroline Foster moved
from Georgia to Bell County, Texas. Any information on this subject would
be muchly appreciated.
