Good Afternoon,
You are absolutely correct in that there is much data in the
Camden Archives on the Kirkland families from Kershaw Co., SC. However, the
data is more concentrated on the family of Richard Rowland Kirkland who was
from Camden and became known as the 'Angel of Marye's Heights' during the
Civil War.
I've been to the archives numerous times in the recent month and
have found that Richard Rowland Kirkland descends from John A Kirkland and
wife Mary Vaughn. John Kirkland's grandfather was Daniel Kirkland but
there doesn't seem to be any data showing the parents of Daniel. These
Kirkland families married into the Truesdale families of Kershaw Co. as
well as other families.
As much as I've tried, I cannot make a 'connection' just yet on
whether these Kirkland families from Kershaw County tie into my direct line
of Richard Kirkland and Mary Snowden.
If anyone has information to tie these families and other Kirkland
families together, please do share it with us :-)
Regards,
Nancy E Parr
