He was the s/o Jordan J. Harper & Frances "Fannie" Gaskins (she also married Daniel Lott, Sr. ) when Jordan & Fannie divorced she raised the boys by the name of Gaskins.

Right now, I've only got four daughters listed under John Gaskins and
Frances Lott. I'd have to defer to the other Gaskins and Lott researchers on
