Well, Dianne, this is spooky!! "Smoke" and Sue are my cousins!! Smoke is Al's Uncle!! Actually, Smoke is my first cousin. His mother was my fathers sister. He is 86 I believe. Somewhere close to that. 20+ years older than I.
Sullivan Road in Cowetta is also named for the Sullivans. When they moved from College Park, they moved the dairy to Newnan. It was there for years until the old folks died off and the town was moving in. I think there is also a Lake on Sullivan Road in Newnan as I remember.
I will forward your letter on to Sue as we keep in touch by email. And I will have her forward it on to Al. I'm not sure I have his email address.
This is really interesting. Small world, huh?

Jane, the story get more and more interesting...I grew up in College Park,
near Sullivan Rd. There is also a Sullivan Rd. here in Coweta Co., named
for the same family. My mom goes to church with a family
member, "Smoke" Sullivan. I don't even know his real name...even his wife,
Sue calls him that. He is a dear...I got a card from him and his wife
today for some recent minor surgery. I guess Smoke is in his late 70's or
early 80's. As for Al, he encouraged my son Chris when no one else did.
If you ever have a chance to tell him, please let him know that Chris
Stephens is a Federal Agent, and more importantly, a great husband and
father! I truly believe that people like Al made the difference in Chris'
life!

Al is not well. Seems he has or had cancer but I don't remember what kind.
I think he is in remission now.
>His grandmother and my father were brother and sister. They were Russey's
from Atlanta. His grandmother was Helen Russey Sullivan who married Tom
Sullivan. They had Sullivan Farms Dairy in Atlanta and College Park then
Newnan for many years. The old farm site in College Park is now the
southern part of the Atlanta Airport!! I think there is still Sullivan Road
that goes through there. Spent a lot of childhood on that farm and now it
is an airport. Unbelievable!!
