Hi List,
I am a recent addition to your list and I hope that I can help some of you
and also maybe if I am lucky find some ancestor information that I am needing.
My lines in Dade County where due to work at the Durham Coal mines. My Great
Great Grandfather Edley A. Hollingsworth moved up on top of Lookout with his
wife Mary Jane Parrish and their Children, Jesse Monroe (my Grt Grandfather)
, Virgil T.,Mattie Ella, Ernest Hubert (wrote book, Coal Miner and his
Guardian Angel) , Vesta L, Mary Etie, Ulas< Houston Orestes. In Durham Coal
mines he worked as well as the two oldest sons, my Jesse and Virgil. Edley
also made rail road ties. I have considerable information on the
Hollingsworth family as well as a huge amount on the Parrish family. They had
moved from Walker County.
My brick wall is that my Great Grandfather Jesse Monroe Hollingsworth married
Iley Ann Wilkerson (Cherokee name) or Ollie Mae Wilkerson (White man name)
She was the daughter of an A. J. Wilkerson and Sarah Ann Kell. A. J was born
February 13, 1850, in Monroe County, TN and his mother was listed as a Levina
Wilkerson on census rolls. Nothing else do I have on the Wilkerson line. with
the exception that these Wilkerson men knew the Cherokee medicine.
I would love to find someone researching this same Wilkerson family!
Below I am listing other connection to my line
Thanks Linda Sue
