The Covington News, August 8, 1918
John Bower Gives His Life For His Countrys Cause.
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Bower, of Covington, R. F. D. No. 6, have received
official notice under date of June 17th from Captain Harold W. Peters, of the
Signal Corps, announcing the death of their son, John, who sailed for France on
May 17th, 1918. The information contained in the letter was meager, it being
merely stated that John Bower had died with the usual expression of regrets.
The news, received by the parents of the young man on Monday of this week, was
the occasion of much regret among the many friends of the family.
