"BERTHA MAYFIELD

Bertha Clay Mayfield, 86, Bethesda Nursing Center, formerly of 521 W. 14th
died Saturday at Neosho Memorial Hospital. She was born May 24, 1896 at
Dawson, Mo. to Shedrick W. and Ida D. Black Gaddis. She married George
W. Mayfield Sept. 12, 1915 at Dawson, Mo. He died Aug. 10, 1973. She came
to Chanute in 1935 and was a housewife.

Membership: Living Word Assembly Church

Survivors: Two sons, Wade W., 1900 S. Plummer, Paul L. 508 W. 3rd; one
daughter, Norma Jean Niver, West Memphis, Ark., one brother Ursie F. Gaddis,
Hemet, Calif.; one sister, Ruby Underwood, 1108 W. Main; four grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Four sisters
and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gibson-Koch Chapel, the Rev. Lowell Underwood
and the Rev. Milton Hubbard. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials to
the American Cancer Society."
