For those on this list who might be interested in working TOGETHER towards
the common goal of discovering SELLARS ancestry I choose to SHARE this
lineage. I am very much interested in sharing information with anyone who
chooses to do the same. Thanks Don Sellars for sharing your info with me.
Mae, I look forward to seeing one of your gedcoms soon. I will be happy to
return one to you as well!

Most recent backwards-

Annie Nix & David Ansley (more info available on NIX)
Leroy Nix & Susan Sellars
George Thomas Sellars & Mary Hester (More info available on both)
William Sellars & Eda Grady (MUCH more info available on GRADY)

Of these families the ones that seem to be in the Decatur area were the
Sellars. George Thomas (who must have a sense of humor as he switches to
Thomas George Every other census year) and his wife Mary were in Decatur Co
only on the 1900 census. Most the other years from 1860-1920 were spent in
either Thomas or Grady Counties.
Annie Nix and David Ansley are my grandparents. They are both still
living although they now reside in Florida. This year will be their 67th
wedding anniversary!
Leroy Nix and Susan Sellars is an interesting group sheet of its own.
Leroy & Susan had 5 children, four girls and a son who died of sids or some
such thing at a few months. I know where Susan is buried beside her infant
son, but have NO info on the death or burial of Leroy. The NIX family is
very Rich in Civil war history SIX of the Nix boys serving in the
confederacy. Francis Spears Nix, grandmother of Leroy had SIX of her boys
fight with the Confederates. Three of them died at the same battle in
Maryland.
George Thomas and Mary Hester Sellars were the parents of 14 children.
All of whom were born in Decatur County. I believe the family moved to
Decatur shortly after the 1880 census was taken and remained there thru 1900
or a little after. I have tracked George and Mary Hester Sellars on every
census that they could appear on. I have birth, death, burial as well as
census on both of them. I also have quite a bit on each of their children
as well. Mary Ann Hester is the daughter of a Confederate Soldier.
William and Eda L. Grady Sellars had 4 children.. possibly more.
William was born about 1826 and Eda was born abt 1829. Eda is the daughter
of Dennis Grady and his wife Elizabeth Griffin. I do not at this time know
the parents of William. I do know that William and Eda married 9 April 1850
in Decatur County. Their two daughters both married Miller boys. I have
more on the Grady and Griffin families if anyone is interested. The Grady
line is a Revolutionary War patriot for anyone interested in DAR.
I am hoping this year to spend some MORE time in the probate records and
possibly the George archives working on this family. For anyone else is
might be interested I am also seeking information on any family that
INTERMARRIED with these families. Some of the other names that I would
welcome information are:
GRADY, NIX, ANSLEY, WARD, JOHSON (Isreal), CLAY, GRIFFIN, BOYETTE and
many many more. If you don't see it here, email me. I am on line ALOT (I
work on line) and would email you asap.
Again, PLEASE feel free to contact me if you have any interest in any
of the above named families. I have alot of Marriage records, and other
info to back up my facts, although I live in Michigan I have spent
considerable time searching the Georgia records and cemeteries while
vacationing. I look forward to sharing and hopefully making some
connections with those of you researching these and the intermarrying
families.
I personally refuse to get caught up in negative verbal exchanges. I am on
this list to seek and share information on the ancestors who lived in the
Decatur County area. Happy Hunting!
