At first it was believed that there was a 'falling out' in the family and that part of the family changed the spelling of the last name, but though research we have discovered that this is not true. Both spellings were used even though they are all connected. It is believed that on some of the documents the names were spelled incorrectly or were not legible. This happens alot when researching family history and somehow over time the incorrect version is accepted as correct.

As for information on Elizabeth Blankinship I might be able to help you. E-mail me and I will send you a copy of the latest family history which was compiled by several researchers. All part of the Blankship family history.
