Most of 5th district Early County became part of Clay county in 1854. Clay
county land lot map places #288, 5th Dist in Southwest Clay county, East of
Hwy 39 & Roaring Branch but West of Flat Creek and SW of the Bluffton-Fort
Gaines Road.

Land lot maps are available at the Tax assessors office in the Clay county
court house (Fort Gaines, GA), GA archives (Atlanta, GA), and Washington
Memorial Library, Macon GA.

The Deed index by Land lot would help you with the deeds, but you need to
look for it in Clay county, since the book containing those 5th district
lots was moved to Clay county. It will reference the Early county deed book
and then later the Clay county books.
