Thanks Jerry. Since I am a history buff, I am ordering your book as we speak.
Can't wait to read it.

Sharon,
You looked at my web page, Children of the Iron Men, which is about my early
Braddock ancestors in Spanish East Florida. The title was derived from the
title of my book, Wooden Ships - Iron Men, which is a 300 page story of the many
exploits of four ancestors of the two generations preceding those who settled
in what is now Nassau County in 1796. The four ancestors were all mariners of
note in Colonial and Revolutionary times and were involved in many exploits
that helped shape the history of the Southeast. The book, which is now in its
second printing and has sold in 30 states and four foreign countries, is of
primary interest to descendants of the four men--of which there are many--and
maritime history buffs, but probably of not much interest to others. It is also a
good source for those researching maritime history of the Southeast and is in
many libraries and research societies in the Southeast. There is a copy
dedicated to Helen Hodges in the Callahan Library (she is the mother of Jean Mizell
and all Florida Braddock genealogies are built on Helen's research) and a copy
is in the Hilliard Library dedicated to Claudine Braddock, mother of Ronnie
and Donnie you mentioned in an earlier message.
The book's web page is: Wooden Ships
Some of the exploits of the book's heroes are mentioned in some of the web
pages whose links are below.
Glad you asked about the book, Sharon. I enjoy telling about it. The first
time I had the honor of doing so was in 1996 at the Braddock/Higginbotham
reunion in Callahan. I've attended the reunion each November since.
