Can anyone tell me what S.A.L. stands for - I'm assuming it is a
railroad since I'm told my George W. Martin worked as a pumper for a
railroad between 1866-1930.
If his son Thomas left GA for Florida to work for a railroad between
1920-1929, does anyone know why? was there a new RR office opening - any
reason during that period of time a young man would have left GA for FL.
Thanks to any historians out there.
Janet
