SISUM, OLIVET, TRAMMELL, PANTER, GEE
I am desperately trying to find the parents of David O. SISUM (b.1835
NY), George W. SISUM (b 1822 NY), and Edwin OLIVET (b. 1835 NY). All 3
of these guys and the SISUM spouses (Emily R. and Elizabeth) were born
in New York and moved to Fannin County between 1857 and 1859. They show
up predominately in the Skeinah Gap and Stockhill areas. David served
as the postmaster for Skeinah Gap. Edwin OLIVETT also from New York
settled in the same area as the SISUM's and he may be a cousin, but at
the least was a very good friend. It has been printed that David's
middle name may have been Olivett suggesting a maternal connection.
Several SISUM's and OLIVET's are buried at Salem #1 (old section).
Does anyone have any of these names in your database? Even if it is
only one as a marriage to you mainline, I would appreciate the
information to help me fill in the blanks. I have examined all of the
Fannin County census, marriage, cemetery, and vital records to obtain
the limited data that I have. These folks are not to be confused with
the SISSONs who are abundant in Fannin County.
Also I am trying to find the parents of James TRAMMELL born about 1795
in South Carolina, married to Ann Turner. The family moved from SC
between 1836 and 1850 and are shown in Union County, Ga and later Fannin
County. Children include: Elizabeth, Daniel, Joseph, and James Edward
"Ed". Elizabeth married Nathan Parris. Daniel married Mary? from South
Carolina. No known spouse for Joseph, and Ed married Hattie Hicks. So
far I have had no luck tying them into the descendants of Thomas
TRAMMELL (Revolutionary War veteran) whose clan also migrated to Fannin
County at around the same time from South Carolina. Thomas R. TRAMMELL
the 1860 census enumerator for Fannin County descends from this 2nd
batch. Ann Turner is a sister to Bailus Turner who also migrated from
South Carolina.
Lastly, I have recently, through other online researchers, made very
significant progress on my PANTER and GEE relations. Is anyone
searching these same lines? If so, I would love to share data and have
you proof some of the names I have.
Have a great Sunday!
