Is anyone aware if the McClure family cemetery was once called Friendship
Cemetery? I went to Ellijay yesterday to do some research of my husband's
STEWART and DAVENPORT families. Since Gilmer County Library had more Fannin Co.
resources than ours in Pickens.
In the Book---Weddings and Obituaries from the Blue Ridge Summit Post 1893-1968
Vol 1. The obituary for Richard's gr-grandmother Mrs. Martha Jane Stewart
states she was buried in the Friendship Cemetery. She is buried in what is now
called the McClure Cemetery.
Her husband's obit states his service was held from the O'Zion Baptist Church
with interment in the church cemetery. He is also buried at the McClure
Cemetery.
There were two other family members listed as being buried at Friendship
Cemetery that are in the McClure Cemetery.

Is there anyone who knows the history of this cemetery? I know that I read
where Friendship and Zion Hill combined to become O'Zion Baptist Church.

Thanks,
Donna Johnson
