The Georgia Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association is working towards
documenting the history of what was known as the Cherokee Nation Georgia
prior to the 1838 removal. Members of this organization work to find
the history of their county, document structures that may still be
standing, along with the historical facts associated with families
removed from their area. It includes learning about the routes taken to
remove the Indians from Georgia. Although this organization is not
directly involved with substantiating your family genealogy, by helping
do the research one might come across information that may prove helpful
as well as enlighten one to the history surrounding the area their
family ancestors lived in.
If anyone on this list is interested in helping with this on going
project, has time to read and learn how-to, please contact me via email.
