Ever though of sharing those old photos? This was posted on the rootsweb
board message board. If anyone is intrested to give it a try, I will set a
link of the Stephens, or Franklin County Page,
PUTTING PHOTOS ONLINE
I have hundreds of photos & documents to add to my tree, and want to know
exactly the best way to proceed. I've read explanations of digital imaging
online but I still feel I'm missing something. I understand I need photo
editing software to fool around with pictures once they're in my computer,
but this is where I want to be positive is a scanner the only or best
way to get them in there? We have a digital camera but I'm not sure
photographing the photos would result in good quality. Thank you for your
service,
Adding your photos to your genealogy Web site is a wonderful idea. Using
your digital camera will be fine, if the images are a good quality. You'll
only know that if you try it. You don't need too much software to get
started with photos. You probably received software with your digital camera
that will work if you aren't trying to do anything fancier than resizing,
compressing and cropping. As you gain expertise, you might want to get one
of the more involved graphics programs for adding special effects to the
pictures. You can get free Web space for your site and photos at
.
Documents can be treated as a graphic and you can either photograph or scan
them, but many documents will be difficult to read online and you'll want to
transcribe or abstract the information to go along with the image. Be sure
to include citations with any photos or documents that you put online, just
as you would do if they were in paper format.

If you don't let a Teacher Know at what Level You are-By asking a question,
or revealing your ignorance-you will not learn or grow. You cannot pretend
for long, for you will be found out. Admission of ignorance is often the
first step in our education. Thoreau Taught,"How can we remember our
ignorance, which our growth requires, when we are using our knowledge all the
time?
Almost any man knows how to earn money, but not one in a million knows how
to spend it.
Henry David Thoreau, American writer (1817-1862).
Quick Quote:
"The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another
must
wait till that other is ready."
- Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
