Subject: Where was this Georgia Rebel Soldier coming from?

Cyber Friends,
I've gone over the map (not to good at maps), and tried to figure (not
too good at that either) just where our Hiram M. Long lived.
Maybe if you read some of his letters of 1862 you can figure out about
where he lived and what his regiment was. I put names/places in caps.
This letter is written to his wife, Mary B., April 19, 1862:
Camp near Dalton April 19, 1862
Dear Wife and Children I now take the plesure of writing you a few
lines to inform you that myself and JOHN is in good health at this time
an hopes that when they reach you that they may find you all well. I
was very sicke until I got here.
We only came 16 mile the first day the next day I got to wride some ten
miles and we got to MERETTA about 11 oclock an had to waite until 9 o
clock at night before we could leave. We got to DALTON that night at 3
and we was glad to find that COL GLENN had gone into camps in 1 mile of
DALTON for I knew where the place was.
I found the men all well and in good spirits. we got our bounty money
the same evening that we got here and I sent you fifty dollars by
LIEUTENANT DWIGH witch I hope you have got in this time an I wanted you
to pay MCAFEE the five dollars that I borrowed of him and take up mine
and MR. CAINS note that we give him for it and let MR CAIN know that you
have paid it.
We will draw our wages an clothing money the first day of May an then we
can help you some more. I wante you to buy a good cow with the money
that you have got. You can get a very good one from JOE SHADBURN for
twenty five dollars and I think that you had better give it if you
cannot do any better.
JOHN sends his best respects to you all and says that he is very well
satisfied with the camps. He was very readly received into service.
Tell FRANCES that I have not heard any of JAMES since I left home. I
wante you to write me as soon as you get this letter and be sure to. So
nothing more at this time only I remain your husband as ever.
HIRAM M. LONG to MARY B. LONG
Now, can someone figure out from what county/direction he was leaving to
get to a camp near Dalton? And in what regiment was Colonel Glenn and
Lt. Dwigh/Dwight? What is Granger Company? Is that a GA or Tenn Co.?
Do hope someone can get/give help from these names. I've lived with
these letters a long time without being able to figure out these
questions. I know there was at least one daughter, Missouri E. LONG
born about 1855 died 7 May 1899 Ga who wed William Benjamin SPIVEY b.GA
and he died 8 Jan 1902 GA. But in his letter he said 'children'.
I have two more letters from him to his wife, Mary, but didn't want to
make this post too long. Hope someone can help me find Hiram. Did he
die in Atlanta (last letter to Mary from Atlanta Aug? 8,1862) or was he
able to go home to his family and work his farm and live out his life.
