Dear Neda:
I thought I answered where Red Oak is.
Georgia Hwy. 29 runs North & South thru the state of GA.
Leaving Atlanta, GA and driving South there is College Park, GA, East Point, GA, REd Oak, GA the Stonewall,Union City, Fairburn, Palmetto, Newnan & Etc.
Red Oak does not sit on Hwy. 29, however, it is marked that it is Red Oak. You have to turn off the hwy. and cross the RR tracks to get to what use to be a very viable community. It is not so anymore. As in all communities they change and do not always remain in good condition. It is about 15miles South of Atlanta, GA.
When Franklin Roosevelt was president he traveled 29Hwy going to Warm Springs, GA where he maintained what we know as the Little White House. This is where he died. He went to Warm Springs as he believed and so did others that the warm water at Warm Springs helped Polio patients. Those of us that lived in this area called Ga Hwy. 29-the Roosevelt Hwy. His body was shipped by train on the RR that ran parallel along the side of Hwy. 29 and it was so lined with people that the Hwy. had to be closed for his train to pass.
Sorry I forgot to tell y0u where it is.
Shirley
