I am so glad to hear something about that area. Here are some tidbits from
the previous years in case anyone is interested............... Would love to
see it now and hope one day I will be able to go. I have no idea of when they
moved the road as that is pastmine thime there.

I lived in the subdivision behind the Capitol View Baptist Church from 1927
until I married but my family still lived there until I sold it around 1954/55.
Rev Lee Cutts was pastor there for years and years.

Capitol View Baptist Church sat on the left corner as you crossed Stewart Ave
from Dill Ave. Across the street directly in front was a drug store with a
few offices, AKA dentist, also I believe the Eastern Star organization met
upstairs as well as the Rainbow Girls. As you went in from Dill Ave on the right
corner was the Woods Tourist Home. Since motels weren't plentiful we had
tourist homes where you could rent a room for the night with meals. Now it is Bed &
Breakfast. Mrs. Woods also had some regular renters I believe.

Later during W.W.II it was sold and a Piggy Wiggly (I believe) was built
there. Behind the Mrs. Woods Tourist Home was Fire Station # 20.

For interested researchers that might be interested in where this
congregation went.:
On a plaque at Bethesiada Cemetery, Bethesiada Rd., SE Fulton County it says:

1965 Capitol View Baptist Church located on Stewart Ave., Atlanta, GA.,
merged with Bethesiada Baptist Church. 1990 due to falling attendance and financial
reasons the doors were closed.

Have made a photo of the plaque. There is a photo of the original church
building on this plaque. Across the road is another building and I think maybe
this may have been built when the road was most likely moved.
The plaque states that "this building sat on this ground". Well there is not
enough room between the cemetery and road now for a building so I think it
was moved across the road when Capitol View Baptist Church merged with it.
Please do not take this for the truth. It is only an assumption.
Will place it on the website as soon as it is received.
