Shirley --

I live in Southern California, and no, I have not ever been to Welcome All. Evelyn Elizabeth (Harris) Miller Nixon was married to a distant cousin of my husband's Nixon line. I have spent the past 10 years trying to put them back together -- from 3000 miles west. I finally figured out this past weekend how she connected, though I had her burial record, SS # application, & death certificate in my files for several years. So, no I do not know any useful family connections. I was hoping my posting would get me at least one. Best I can tell, the Jailette surname is not very common. Wayne A. Nixon, Evelyn's husband, married again after her death. If I wouldn't have been transcribing everything for the GA archives project, I don't know if I would have ever mentally made the connection.

Here is the obit I have for Wayne; I figured out the connection from her death certificate, as he was listed as her husband, when I was then doing his obit.

Jessie Nixon, 74
formerly of Austell

Jessie "J. L." Nixon, 74, of Atlanta, died Sunday, February 6, 2000.

Services will be 3 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery in Austell, with the Rev.
Bill Shattles officiating.

Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Awtry of Martin.

Roy Davis Funeral Home in Austell is in charge of the arrangements.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jessie & Wayne's Grandfather was Joseph Drewey Nixon of Coweta Co., Georgia; which is where my husband's Nixons are from.
Since I only have a marginal grasp on the area, could you tell me if Welcome All is in the area of South Fulton that was once Campbell Co?
Valerie: Have you ever visited Welcom All Cemetery? Is there anyone that I might contact that could help with the maintenance of this cemetery? That question may not be valid or you would not be writing about this family. If a project is not begun this cemetery will be lost. There is not anyone to care for it.
This cemetery was originally located next to a church. The church has been gone for many years and there is not anyone to tend this cemetery. It is in really bad shape. This cemetery is located closer to Red Oak and Hwy. 29 than it is College Park. Welcome All Rd. runs from GA hwy. 29 to Fairburn Rd., in SW Atlanta. I grew up in the area of Welcome All cemetery and have a survey of this cemetery if you would like one. I have a cousin and his wife buried there along with her family who I am distantly related.
Thanks for a reply
