Dear fellow Gage researchers:
While researching Winona, Winona Co., MN Gages, I came across this
obit for Chapman E. Gage who I believe is from the Thomas of Yarmouth
line of Gages. (I am a descendant of the William of Freetown, MA line).
Hope it will be helpful to a fellow researcher.

"Chapman E. Gage died at his home, 927 West King Street, Friday morning
at 8:30 o'clock from an attack of paralysis from which he suffered four
and one-half hours. Mr. Gage has been employed at the North-Western
shops for the past fourteen years and was at work as usual on Thursday
and attended prayer meeting at the Freewill Baptist Church that
evening. He was apparently in his usual health when retiring Thursday
night, but at 4 o'clock Friday morning he suffered the stroke which
caused his death, which was a shock to his large circle of friends and
his relatives, a few hours later. He would have been seventy-three
years of age in May and has been a resident of Winona for the last
fourteen years coming here from Whitehall, Wis. He resided with his
wife and family at that place fourteen years previous and from 1854
until moving to Whitehall he was a resident of Winona County residing at
Stockton, Winona and Witoka. He was born in Oswego County, New York
state and was married in 1856 to Miss Sarah E. Harvey at Salem, Wis. He
is survived by his wife and five children, Mrs. Etta Werner of this
city, Mrs. J.M. Ingalls, Charles Q. and Thomas H. of Whitehall and Louis
L. of St. Paul. The funeral services will be held from the residence in
this city Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and R.F. Kennedy will
officiate. The remains will be taken to Whitehall, Wis, on the Green
Bay train Monday morning."
