Subject: [GAGORDON] Where is East Damascus Bapt. Church? Cochran family buried there
Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2001 11:10:47 -0500
Can anyone give me directions to East Damascus Baptist Church? According to
a family record I was given my husband's gr. gr. grandparents are buried
there:
Myers Cochran was born in North Carolina September 18, 1812. He was
the son of James Cochran from North Carolina. Myers died March 20, 1904 in
Gordon Co., Georgia. He was buried in Gordon County in the East Damascus
Baptist Church Cemetery.
He married Phoebe Rebecca Dickey in Cass Co., Georgia, November 20, 1838.
Phoebe was born in Tennessee October 26, 1820. She was the daughter of
James Willis Dickey and Polly Douglas. Phoebe died September 17, 1914 in
Gordon Co., Georgia. She was buried in Gordon Co. in the East Damascus
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Myers' father James is also supposedly buried there. I now live in Pickens
Co. (next to Gordon) and would like to visit the Church if someone could
tell me how to get there.
Thank you.
