Surname: Connell, Owsley, Woodward, Slaughter, Patrick, Andrews

Hi Robert. My information differs a bit from yours but I have to confess
that these Connells are very difficult to research! According the the info.
I've found, John Connell who m. Sarah Ansley/Owsley was supposedly born
about 1777 in North Carolina, d. 1858, Butts Co., GA. He married Sarah
Owsley (incorrectly spelled Ansley in the marriage record), a younger daughter
of Newdigate and Mary Ann Owsley. Some think that this John Connell was
son of Thomas and Jemima Connell. The known children I have for John &
Sarah (Owsley) Connell are:
1. Thomas H. Connell, b. 8 Oct. 1805, Greene Co., GA, d. 14 Aug. 1853,
Spalding Co., GA. Married Margaret Jane Andrews, 26 July 1836 in Butts
Co.
2. Penelope Connell, b. Greene Co., GA, married Alexander Patrick, Jr.,
25 Jan. 1827, Henry Co., GA.
3. Anna Connell, b. 1810, Greene Co., GA, m. Littleberry Patrick, 27 Jan.
1827, Henry Co., GA, d. 1856 in Shiloh, Union Parish, LA.
There likely were more children but these are all I have.
As mentioned above, Sarah Owsley was daughter of Newdigate and Mary Ann
Owsley. Newdigate Owsley was born ca. 1734 in Pr. William Co., VA, d. 1797,
Hancock Co., GA., son of Thomas Owsley, Jr. and his wife Ann (unknown)
(Note: the information that Ann, wife of Thomas Owsley, Jr, was a West
is in error.) Newdigate Owsley and his family moved to Wilkes Co., GA from
Loudoun Co., VA in 1773. His will is found in Hancock Co., GA. Children
of Newdigate and Mary Ann Owsley:
1. William Owsley, m. Rebecca.
2. Anna Owsley, no info.
3. Robert Owsley, m. Mary Slaughter of Greene Co., GA.
4. Penelope Owsley, m. Jesse Connell (my line), d. 4 Nov. 1820.
5. Chloe Owsley, m. Aaron Woodward, 17 June 1800, Hancock Co., GA.
(The Woodwards are later found in Butts Co., GA)
Although early on it was thought that John Connell was brother of my Jesse
Connell, it is now generally believed he was Jesse's nephew. But no proof
has been found. It could very well be that the older John Connell who was
a Rev. Veteran was brother of Jesse Connell but I've been unable to prove
it.
If you would like further information, please email me.
