I believe I have the family sorted out now. It appears that Liddie (Lydia Ann Phillips) married Robert Lane, whose child she was already carrying, in 1859. At some point prior to 1870 Robert went blind and moved back in with his parents. Your Liddie Ann Lane was actually Lydia Ann Phillips, daughter of Larkin and Mary Phillips, who lived in Henry County from at least the 1840s.
Lydia married Robert Lane in Henry County on October 23, 1859. Since the 1860 census was taken in Henry County on July 31, 1860 and Larkin and Mary Phillips had a 4 month old Lane child in their home, it appears that the baby was born only five months after Liddie and Robert were married. A 22 year old Robert Lane was living in household 1142 in Henry County with 18 year old, Susan Lane, on July 20, 1860. Larkin and Mary were living in household 1194.
In 1870 Robert Lane was in his parents' home in McDonough and was shown as being blind. Susan does not appear at all. Also in the Lane household was a 13 year old boy, L. Phillips, who was working on the farm
This confirms a close Phillips/Lane family connection. Since no marriage record for Robert to Susan can be found, there are a couple of possible explanations: (1) Susan was a relative taking care of Robert, (2) Susan was actually Liddie Ann and the name was recorded wrong, (3) Robert's marriage to Liddie was a "marriage of convenience" to give the child legitimacy (but this doesn't explain the other Lane children that Liddie had).
