I hope some other Gaines researchers can help me connect my Gaines lines with
other Va. Gaines. Here is what I have:

James GAINES b. c1795, d. bef 1842;
m. Nancy WEYMOUTH (b. c1803) 10 Mar 1824 in Lancaster Co. Va.
James' mother may have been Elizabeth GAINES who d. 1810, and he may have had
a brother John.

Children of James and Nancy GAINES included:

Richard R. GAINES b. 1828 Lancaster Co. Va.
m1. Esther Ann SCHOFIELD 11 May 1859 in Weems, Lancaster Co. Va.
m2. (after divorce from Esther)

and Joseph GAINES b. 1833.

Richard and Esther GAINES had the following children:

William Thomas GAINES b. 1861 Weems, Lancaster Co. Va.
m1. Ann M. FERGUSON 9 Aug 1887 Lancaster Co. Va. (divorced)
m2. Eliza ABBOTT 1895 Lancaster Co.
d. 1935;

and Emmer (sic) GAINES
