Hi....
I am also researching Dorcas (or Darkis) Yarbrough Gainey.....(May 1866
Charlton Co, GA - ?) the daughter of John W. and Annie Hodges
Yarbrough....she married Isaac Gainey Jan 1883 in Charlton Co, GA.....I
have been able to find some information in the census....I found her and
her children in the 1900 Baker Co, FL Census...in Johnsville....it has
that she is Divorced with 6 children...also found her in 1910 Baker Co,
FL Census, in Baxter...this says that she is widowed and the mother of 5
children....but am not sure how many she actually had....I think I found
Isaac Gainey in the 1900 census....he was also in Baker....but as a
prisoner? I am not sure but I think she had 11 children all
together...apparently before Issac Gainey died, they had more kids(
names of the children are: Mandy, Annie, Ammy, Dempsy, Frank, Paul,
Rena, and Robert.....she was also i guess the guardian of the following
children, her nieces and nephews: Stella and Willis Gainey... Lizzie,
Turner and Richard Cox, and Stella and Alex Hill.....
With some determination and alot of patience I began looking for her in
the 1920 census....I found her and three of her children in Lafayette
Co, FL....in Mayo #2..... I haven't found her in the 1930 census but I
think I found some of her children.....
I have that she is buried in Daniel Cemetery in Duval Co, FL....
Does anyone have any other information on the above family? I would
appreciate any help on her....when she died would be great.....
Appreciate any help.....thank you......
