Hi Alice,
I am still looking for the answer, as to why both parents died and left the three children.
I also found Reuben Lawson in Newton Co., in 1830 and was assuming that he might be the same Reuben Lawson found in the 1840's US Census of Jasper Co., Ga. ?????? However, there is a family of Irvine Lawson listed in Jasper Co., Ga in the 1830 US Census' with a male between the age of 30-40 which fits the age that Reuben would be in 1830. It is possible that Reuben and Elizabeth M. Lawson was living with the Irvine Lawson family at the time of the 1830 US Census. I also have found that a Reuben Lawson born abt 1801 is listed as the son of a John Lawson and Delpia Robertson, at FamilySearch.org. I do not have any other information to make a clear connection to any of these Lawson families beyond 1840. Do you have any more clues we could pursue?
I do not know if you have acess to the US Census but I found on the 1860 US Census of Jasper Co., GA a William C. Varnam family living close to Reuben and Elizabeth M. Lawson , with a Margaret J. Varnam 2 yrs old. Varnam family # 145, Lawson family # 153.
I have not been able to find a William Lawson married to a Sallie Yancey. I have been looking at the household of a T. G. Lawson in Newton Co., GA as the family of my Sarah Angeline Lawson. His household lists a Sarah A. at 2 yrs of age in the 1860 U S Census.
Hn#556 Fn# 533 Lawson T. G. 25 M Wool Carder GA

Wm. B. 3 M GA
Sarah A. 2 F GA
If you may have any other leads on OUR Lawson family I would love to hear about them!
I have been searching the Lawsons over the internet for the last few weeks. I had Reuben and Elizabeth with the Grandchildren of William and Thomas J. Lawson in the Jasper Co., US Census for 1870. I would be very interested in any and all you could share on Thomas J. and his family.
My Sarah Angeline Lawson;
Per Aunt Lila's letter, Sarah Angeline Lawson was reared by Eliza Ann Warren. Eliza Ann Losson married John Warren Feb 9, 1847 in Jasper Co., GA. In the 1870 Jasper Co., US Census, John Warren is listed with a wife named Eliz A. and 5 children and a John Fincher living with them. The very next family is a black family of Sarah Peddy and living with her household is who I believe is my Sarah Angeline Lawson age 11 F W Attends School GA. Perhaps the Peddy's were freed slaves or servants living on the same land as John Warren. Sarah Angeline Lawson married Wyatt Smith Bishop abt 1878 first child born January 12, 1879. Between 186 and 1870 my Bishop family moved to Butts Co., GA. The 1880 US Census for Butts Co., GA lists Wyatt 22 , Angeline 20, Benjamin 1 and Margaret 66 (mother- Margaret Sellers). This Bishop family is in Butts Co., Ga in the 1900 US Census. In the 1910 U S Census Sarah in living next door to her son William C. Bishop, my Great grandfather in Dodge C!
o., GA. Sarah Angeline Lawson Bishop died July 22, 1919 in Dodge Co., GA. If you would like more information on the the children and their families let me know. Sorry this is so long but hopefully helpful. Look forward to hearing from you again.
