I finally located the gravesites of some of my ancestors (the family has only been looking for these for 40 years...) and discovered a couple strange things. Two individuals - a husband and a wife - both died FEB 1884. Two of their children died NOV 1863. The tombstones definitely look like they were put up at the same time, which possibly indicates to me that the first two died at the same time and the second two died at the same time.

I was wondering if anyone had any information specifically for those two dates (NOV 1863 and FEB 1884). Was there some kind of epidemic in Laurens County? A fire that might have claimed their lives? If anyone has any kind of source - newspaper clippings, anything...please let me know. My imagination is running on wild trying to figure out what happened.
