I have a Mary Ann Gallaher age 17 marrying a Charles Tahaney age 20 on Sept. 14, 1874 in Preston county WVA. (consent of Michael Galaher) This information is from the Preston County marriage Index Volumes 1 and 2.
I took this Mary Ann to be the younger sister of my great grandfather John T. Gallagher b. 19 June 1852 d. 26 August 1937. John is the eldest child of Michael Gallagher b. 1826 Ireland and Mary Margaret Clark b. 1826 Ireland. Michael died in 1876 in a railroad accident.
Michael and Mary had several other children. Please contact me if your Mary Tahaney is from Va or WVa and if you think it could be a match.
