I have found census records for Daniel and his family (1880 census record for Somerville, Middlesex Co., MA):

Daniel was born about 1872 in MA (age 8 in 1880 census)
Sister, Alice Gallagher, born about 1875 (age 5; born in MA).

Their parents were:
Peter Gallagher, born about 1854, in MA (age 26 in the 1880 census; both of his parents were born in Ireland); according to the 1880 census, his occupation was "making confectionary"

Annie (don't know maiden name), born about 1853 in MA (age 27 in 1880 census; both of her parents were also born in Ireland)
