Let us all welcome Brian Smith, please, to the GALLAHER-L list!

Brian, what a wonderful post concerning all the James Gallahers, et al!
This is good research material. I don't suppose you thought of
O'GALLAHER or GOLLAHER?

I am searching for the elusive Caleb GOLLAHER (O'Gallaher ?) who married
Martha JONES in Welmington (Wilmington?), New Castle, Delaware 26 Oct
1757?67. His son, Charles Gollaher, was born abt 1757 in Philadelphia,
PA, and is my ancestor. His siblings were:

JOHN......b: abt 1755 /Welmington, New Castle, Delaware
PATRICK...b: abt 1759 /Philadelphia. Philadelphia. PA
AMILA.....b: abt 1760 /Philadelphia. Philadelphia. PA
NANCY.....b: abt 1763 /Philadelphia. Philadelphia. PA

JAMES is a name which is extremely common in all surname variations of
GALLAGHER I have seen. I know my ancestor James is recorded under the
spelling GALLAHER, GALLIHER, GOLLAHER and GALLOHER

Again, Brian, thanks so much for posting your research. It's going to
be very difficult sorting out all these surname spellings.
