Does anyone in this group have any Gallagher family in the Massachusetts area from the late 1800s to the early 1900s? ISO Ralph Peter born ca. 1921 and his parents, etc.

Wood Smoke Poses Lung Health Risk

Beach bonfires, roaring fireplaces and old-fashioned wood-burning stoves have a special place in the hearts of many. While the smells and sounds of freshly-chopped wood crackling in the fire may bring back memories of childhood for many people, a new study shows that wood smoke may also pose a major health hazard. According to medical researchers in Mexico, where many families rely solely on wood-burning stoves for household heating and cooking needs, regular exposure to wood smoke may increase lung cancer risk by as much as 39%. In addition, researchers found that wood smoke exposure is a major risk factor in the development of asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. While research continues, doctors recommend limiting exposure to wood fires and avoiding direct inhalation of wood smoke.
