Dear Bernard,

I've just come across reference to the award of some Albert Medals to (very) distant ancestors and wondered whether there may have been a citation, and what the medals looked like?

They were awarded 19th. February 1883 by Lord Leigh, Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire at the Corn Exchange in Atherstone.

They were awarded to some of the rescuers of the Baddesley [Stratford] Pit Disaster which happened in May 1882 and two of the recipitants were

Charles Chetwynd, collier First Class (gold) medal
Joseph Chetwynd, miner Second Class (silver) medal

Any further details, and possibly an attachment (JPeg) showing Albert medals, would be much appreciated,

all the best,
Chris
