Thank you, Dick for your information and leads. I have looked at the Ruth Hall website and have "spoken" (electronically) to her. I did get in contact with a cousin whom I had never met! We are now exchanging information. The internet is good in so many ways. The only story I know is that our Gallimore (there's even confusion in my father's generation on how to spell it) supposedly came from Wales. But the story goes that my great grandfather "got off the boat" from Wales. I pretty sure that's not true!
Thank you

Hi,
My name is Dick Puz and I've been following the Gallemores for many years. There are various spin offs of surnames. I see you using Gallimore while I use Gallemore. These are but two spelling variations including More and Galimore. It appears to me based upon my inquiry that the ancestors for all (or most) of the family line can be traced back to North Carolina in the 1700s. There were several family centers but Rowan County was certainly one of these. The county in the early days was quite large and encompassed territory that now make up other counties, in part or in full. Stores depart markedly about the European origin of the Gallemore/Gallimore line. This also tells you that documented trails are not readily available so origins become the tales of folklore.

I have written several books on early pioneering families and one specifically deals with the Noah Gallemore and Marry Ball family. You can find these collection of essays on my web site at http://stores.richardpuz.com/StoreFront.bok While the key patriarch and matriarch are Noah and Mary, the essays in this book also briefly relay the many tales of European origin. I have collected essays written by others and my own and include these in the Noah Gallemore Family Essays book.

I have none of the names you cited in my data and can only believe these are in a different family wing. One web site I recommend is http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ruthhall/Gallimore/GallimoreHome.html This site concentrates on the on the many distinct family lines and portrays summary genealogy data. It is run by Ruth Hall and Virginia Westfall who have been at the task of finding Gallemore and Gallimore ancestors for much longer than me. I suggest you look at the web page and specifically for the named individuals you cited.

Lastly, all of this genealogy study has taken me to the area that I really enjoy, which are family stories. You will find these in my essay collection as well as my novels. One now published is based upon Ohioans who sailed to big rivers of America to the frontier in the 1830s. My next novel is based upon the Noah Gallemore family as they traveled overland, first to Morgan County, IN and then to Newton County, MO. In all my books, I weave in folklore as well as the historical events that shaped the times while my imagination provides the character's qualities.

I hope some of this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Dick Puz

Hello, My name is Belinda Powell Gadd. I am the granddaughter of Evelyn Nesbit Gallimore Powell. I was casually surfing the internet and found your website. I was surprised to see our family listed in the genealogy. My father Winston (Bunnie Gene) said that he thought there was a book of family history. He received something of that order but was ill at the time and has since lost it. If you have any information about such a volume or family, please contact me at this email address. I would also be glad to send you current information on David Gallimore's family (grandchildren, great etc.)
If you don't have this information, do you know where I can find it. We are also interested in information on Letitia McGee (David Gallimore's wife) and any other family member to round out our search.
