New Baptist Church
Some time ago the Baptists were thinking of repairing their old church and
occupy it, but it is in such a dilapidated condition that they have decided it
will be poor economy to repair it, and will build a new church on the lot
fronting Mrs. Dranes. The old building will be torn down and all the best
lumber will be used in the new structure. It will be built after the same
style of the old one, so that the framing can be used in the new. The pulpit
will be changed, the steeple will be built thirty feet above the new building
and material changes in front of the edifice. It will have entirely new
weather boarding and nicely painted inside and out.
We are glad our Baptist friends have come to this conclusion, and hope the
citizens of the town and country around will help them liberally. There is
nothing which helps a town out so much as public spirit.
