Hi Larry,
Your posting suggests that your Gamble's go back prior to 1750.
Did they settle in VA or PA first?
I have a Joseph that was born abt 1745 in Augusta Co, VA. He later turned
up in Southwark, Philadelphia Co, PA in the 1790 census. Married a Mary
Flower in PA, 1772.
A Robert Gamble came over from Ireland in 1735. From info that I have
gathered I feel Robert I is Joseph's father. Robert came over from
Londonderry, Ireland in 1735 with 2 sons, James b. 1729 and Robert II b.
1732. Robert I was a weaver by trade. His wife's name was Magdalen Hopper.
He bought land near Springhill, VA from a Robert Poague which is located
about 1 mile above Middle River. Joseph was born near Springhill around
1740/1745.
Joseph had 4 sons, John (my line) who settled in Fayette Co, OH., Joseph,
William and Richard. 1 daughter, Hannah.
Any connection?
Rose
