Esther H. Erwin, 89, of the Renaissance Marque, formerly of Park St., Cave
Spring, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003. She was born Dec. 31, 1913 in
Imboden, Ark., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ernestine Bragg Nelson.
She moved to Ft. Wayne, Ind., in 1920 and was a graduate of South Side High
School there. She was married to Harley F. Irwin, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly J. Lane and Sharon E.
Erwin. She retired from the City Utilities of Ft. Wayne in 1974. She was a past
president of the Allen County Republican Women Federated, was a past president
of the St. Joe Athletic Club Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the Eastern Star
Ch. 432, Moose Lodge, and the Dressmakers’ Guild of Ft. Wayne. The Erwins moved
to Cave Spring in 1990, where Mrs. Erwin became a member of the Cave Spring
United Methodist Church. Survivors include: her children, Donald Erwin, Paul
Erwin, Janet Adams, and Rosalie Parks; a sister, Alice Baney; brother, Lawrence
Nelson; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were
conducted Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Cave Spring
with Rev. Tal Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Floyd Memory
Gardens. Pallbearers were Joe Parks, Greg Goff, Jay Arnold, Spencer Erwin, and
Henry Erwin. John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the
